Types of Dentures Available

Dr. Lance Anderson of Wichita, KS, provides patients with dentures to replace missing teeth, restore bite and speech capabilities, and rejuvenate your smile. Dentures are removable oral appliances made of acrylic resin in combination with metals that come in a variety of types.

Types of Dentures:

  • Complete Dentures (conventional): A complete denture is a removable oral appliance that replaces all missing teeth. It improves chewing ability, speech, and provides facial muscle support.
  • Partial Denture: Partial dentures fill in missing teeth and prevent intact teeth from changing position. It's placed on your upper or lower jaw, or both.
  • Immediate Dentures: These are inserted right after tooth removal of the remaining teeth, so you don't have to wait with no dentures during your healing period.
  • Implant-supported dentures: Your Wichita dentist uses dental implants to fasten the denture in place.
  • Snap-in dentures: A dental implant anchors the denture onto existing teeth and dentures snap onto attachments in the mouth.
  • Overdentures: An overdenture is a removable dental appliance placed on top of gums.

Caring For Your Dentures:

  • Stand over a folded towel when handling your denture in case you accidentally drop it.
  • Brush the denture daily to remove food deposits and plaque using a soft-bristled brush.
  • Use denture cleansers with the American Dental Association (ADA) Seal of Acceptance.
  • Clean teeth that fit under the denture's metal clasps.
  • Avoid using household cleaners and many toothpastes because they're too abrasive.
  • Dentures should be placed in soaking solution to prevent dentures from becoming warped.
